When The Egyptians Predicted The 10 Internet Plagues

The Internet is the ultimate time sink if you are not careful, and it has evolved into an ever changing place for all kinds of stuff. We soak in news, humor, movie trailers and all of the things that make us both smarter and dumber. We depend on the Internet like it was our only place for truth and knowledge. Schools use it to the extent where they have to teach children why they shouldn’t trust everything they read on the Internet, and how to determine whether a fact is in fact true or not. It’s all really a new era where we are all Internetified to the point where if it should suddenly go down, we would be face palming the earth out of its orbital axis.

Once again we are reminded of the many plagues of the Internet since CollegeHumor put together what the Egyptians would call the 10 Internet Plagues. It’s a comedic look at what the Internet has actually become, and how we, the users, have been able to litter it with our junk to the point where any kind of useful information has become harder to find. We strive for something different these days it seems, and we’re modeling its infrastructure on a daily basis.

The plagues, which vary from the ultimately spammy YouTube comments to the ever time gobbling Facebook applications, are something the Egyptians knew all to well was going to come busting down our society, or at least that’s the intention. But the humor is far from just that. Read between the lines, and you will quickly realize that we are standing with our boots knee deep in time sink, and we don’t seem to be able to find a way to dry land. We just keep digging our feet deeper into the mud in hopes that we’ll somehow find an alternate world where everything is like happy pink bunnies giving out free wishes to anyone who wants to join the carefree life. Well, sorry to break the dream, but these plagues are hitting the Internet hard and there are seemingly no way to stop them. DOH!
