The lock will check if you have the authenticating key within your phone, and if you do, it will unlock the door for you.
That’s where the proximity feature comes in. The Kwikset Kevo is so smart that it can sense whether you are inside the house or in front of the door trying to get inside. This renders it virtually impossible for anyone to touch the handle and get in when you’re inside the house and close to the door it’s installed on. The smart lock can of course be unlocked with a key as well if you have forgotten your smartphone somewhere.
