Graphics Engines of 2009

Many with me are continuously waiting on the next leap forward in graphic real-time rendering. Meaning, what will be the next awesome graphics engine for game studios to use. So far there are two major competitors that constantly si trying to break each other’s breakthroughs to give their gamers the best of the best that can be offered on the screen. games are becoming lifelike and environments are now interactive and alive.

Palm trees can be shot down and everything can be destroyed just like in the real world. Where we will stop is up to the creators imagination. However, somehow I think that imitating real life and it’s environment isn’t enough for the game makers. After we’ve been able to exactly copy the real world we will probably go on to create a world beyond our own fragile ecosystem to create vast planetariums with out of the box behavioural physics engines.
