Is Physics The Next Big Thing For Tablet User Interfaces?

I must say that in the past couple of weeks, I have seen more astonishing things when it comes to mobile devices than the entire beginning of the year. It’s fun to know that whatever is around the corner in the future, it is bound to be awesome in every way. We know that Apple has always been a big fan of real world physics and location tracking in their devices. However, there haven’t been that many features on the actual devices that were incorporated into their OS, but maybe that will change.

The brains behind the operation system Velvet sure didn’t spare any gun powder when they put together their user experience of the future. With a clean and quite remarkable user interface, they managed to create a new level of ultra realistic features that will make your device come to life in a whole different way. Maybe it’s just eye candy for now, but I am sure that these features will come in handy when designing new apps that require a new level of navigation.

How about a full physics engine that handles the wrinkling of maps, documents and also a new kind of menu navigation for your eye’s pleasure. Even though I think the user interface is a little bit child like for my taste, I still find it quite intuitive and fun. I can’t wait to see what these guys will come up with next. Maybe the next generation Velvet will have a more grown up feel to it. Don’t get me wrong, I totally dig this kind of stuff. I would just request that it be a bit more… stylish.
