Innovative Bandages Change To Match Your Skin Color

If you are a gadget lover like I am, sometimes it’s easy to get tunnel vision and only think of innovation when it comes to our smartphones, laptops, tablets and other devices (like 3D printers). Technology comes in many forms though, and there is a lot more going on in the technology world than just what we see in our gadgets. Take a look around you right now. Even if you are sitting in your bedroom, I bet you can see a handful of things that wouldn’t be possible if it wasn’t for the advances in technology.

Even the simple things in life are affected by technology, and in this case, even bandages. I remember about a year ago, I wrote about some bandages that change color when there is an infection developing in the cut beneath it. It uses our PH level, which changes when there is an infection, to alert the bandage to turn purple. You can read all about that here.

This is another type of bandage that changes color, only this time, it changes to match your skin tone, which in turn makes this bandage almost invisible. These are called Chameleon Bandages, and they were introduced as an entry in the 2012 IF Design Talents competition. The designers of this innovative bandage concept design haven’t come out yet with all the details for how it works, but I love this idea!
