Facebook App Warns Friends If They’re Being Annoying

friends-being-annoying-on-facebook

Do you ever feel like putting one of your Facebook friends in time-out for being annoying? Sometimes people go on and on about their latest breakup, their kids, or even the video they’re trying to make go viral. There are lots of different things that can be annoying on Facebook aside from the usual stuff. What really twists my brain is when someone is not annoying at all IRL, but he or she is super annoying on Facebook. Although our social media selves are simply extensions of our IRL selves, there is some stuff that doesn’t quite translate.

If you have a friend who is being annoying on Facebook, what do you do? You can hide that person’s updates from your news feed, you can do nothing and just cringe every time you see an update, or you can send that person a Defriendtion notice which will show up on his or her wall.

According to the website, “Defriendtion is a free app for Facebook that combines the classic school detention with the ability to dislike someone on a short-term basis.” When you use this app, you won’t hide their content or modify their content in any way. It’s simply a fun thing to send your friend who is being annoying to let him or her know that you are annoyed. It’s just another goofy little Facebook app that will brighten your day (or ruin the day of whoever you send it to).

So if you have a friend who is being annoying, perhaps you should put him or her in a Facebook time-out. You can even select how many hours the time-out will last. I suppose this is the adult version of making someone stand in the corner. The question is, will they learn their lessons or will they retaliate? Hmm…this could be fun!
