Every blogger or marketer is striving to have their content go viral. It’s the name of the game and some are better at it than others. There are certain things you can do to increase the chance of your content going viral but other than that it is really up to your readers and followers what’s working and what’s not. It mostly depends on who shares it. If you have an influencer share your content then it has a very high chance of going viral. In this article, we are going to take a closer look at what factors help create viral content.
After having run Bit Rebels for almost seven years now, there are certain things that we do here that increase the chance of our content going viral, however, it is still as much a mystery to us why certain things take off and some things, that we really thought would go viral, never really do.
We are going to take a look at some things mentioned in an infographic called “A Data-Driven Guide To Creating Viral Content” created by Backlinko, that you can do to create appealing and potentially viral content. Some of these things are very effective while others are less effective but adds a touch of professionalism so that the people sharing your content feel that what they are sharing is of the highest quality.
Some of the easier things you can do are to just follow the guidance presented by plugins such as Yoast SEO, for example. But there are of course other things that you can do and one of them is to write long blog posts with a lot of useful information in them.
Search engines are constantly looking for pages that could be useful to their users and it is not by chance that websites such as Wikipedia are constantly at the top of your search query. If you write long blog posts, stop rambling and start adding important, factual and useful information you will see that traffic from search engines will increase a lot, at least for the posts that are long. It has been said that no blog post should really be shorter than 300 words or search engines won’t even index it. Whether this is true or not, I don’t exactly know, but it’s a good mark to have and one that will allow you to be creative with your words.
Another thing that really increases the chance of you creating viral content is images. They are easy to implement and adds a lot of visual information to your posts. Most social media networks are heavily driven by images these days and when allowing your readers and followers to share them will also increase the chance of your content going viral.
Get emotional is another one that I can vouch is working when writing. Use words that express your true emotions towards the subject you are writing about. It adds personality and also that it is actually a person with a mind if his/her own behind the words. There are several “power words” that you can use to further increase the chance of creating viral content. Especially if you use them in the headline of your post.
Have a look at the infographic below to further add viral probability to your content. If you have other tips that people can use, please tell us in the comment section below. It would be great if we could continue this list and really identify the factors involved that make content go viral.
