Guide For Choosing The Best Facebook Profile Picture [Flowchart]

3 Years Ago By Diana Adams

You can tell a lot about a person from his or her Facebook profile picture. Unlike Twitter, people on Facebook change their profile pictures often, and it sometimes surprises me what people choose. You never really know who is going to see that photo, and once it’s out there, it’s out there if you know what I mean. It turns out, there may be more psychology embedded in that Facebook photo than you realize. This guide will help you choose the best Facebook profile picture ever.

When I say there is some ‘psychology’ in the Facebook profile picture you choose, what I mean is that according to some sources, that photo reveals some things about your personality. Whether you post a baby picture, a wedding picture, a pet picture, a sunglasses picture, a celebrity picture, a party picture, an artsy picture, a logo picture or a standard headshot, those all say different things about your personality. Of course this is just all in good fun, and you can read an article about these different personality types by clicking over to What Your Facebook Profile Photo Says About You.

To complicate it even more, you may think you’ve chosen the best Facebook profile picture of all, yet other people might still misinterpret it. That is because geography also plays a role in how you choose that picture. You can read more about that on TNW in an article called Choosing Your Facebook Profile Photo Might Have More To Do With Your Culture.

At the end of the day, you just have to choose the best Facebook profile picture you can. If you are okay with everyone you know seeing it (and people you don’t know like potential employers) then it’s alright. If you would like some help in choosing the perfect pic, you might find this flowchart called Should I Upload It? by Photoworld helpful (and funny). Good luck!
