10 Ways To Explain Social Media To Those Who Still Don’t Get It

ways-to-explain-social-media

If you are a frequent visitor here on Bit Rebels, chances are, you are active in social media. To you, posting an image on Instagram, updating your status on Facebook or sending a tweet is now as second nature as brushing your teeth. However, there are still some people in the world who haven’t taken the social media plunge. They know about it of course, but they haven’t gotten their feet wet yet. If you know someone like that, here are 10 different visual ways to explain social media that will make sense.

I remember back in March of 2009 when I sent my first tweet, and I was so excited about it. Back then nobody knew what I was talking about when I tried to share that experience. These days, you can’t even turn on the news without seeing a hashtag on the bottom of the television screen. I’m still surprised though at how many people I talk to each week who haven’t ever sent a tweet, or maybe they’ve sent one, but they still don’t get it.

Last year there was an image that went viral which explained social media with donuts. For a few weeks, that image was everywhere. Since then, many people have been inspired by that and found their own ways to explain social media using the original as a guide. I came across a few of those today and thought it would be fun to put a small collection of them here to give you a smile. Maybe these will even inspire you to come up with your own ways to explain social media. Next time you meet someone who still doesn’t understand the difference between these popular sites, just choose one of these ways to explain social media in the terminology and pictures that he or she will understand. There’s a little something here for everyone. Enjoy!
