Who Is A Friend To You?

I have very few real friends, and I cherish them. I enjoy reading quotes about love and friendship, and I found some that have truly resonated with me. We meet so many people in the duration of our lifetime. You have your childhood friends, your school friends, and now we have our FaceBook and Twitter friends. They all have a part in our lives. Everyone leaves an imprint on our soul.

There are friends we share a bond with that cannot be explained. Like me, for instance, I do not really categorize the closest friends that I have. Whether they are near me or not, whether they have been in contact with me for days or years, it doesn’t matter. Some people even wonder how I can be close to others even if I have not seen them in years or have not really been in constant contact. In some cases, I have not met them in person. I guess it is a matter of what is shared and the bond that we have formed that holds the friendship together.

Let me share some quotations that I love so much because they speak of what i am talking about – the unseen bond between real friends.

“The language of friendship is not words but meanings.”   -Henry David Thoreau

“I get by with a little help from my friends”. -John Lennon

“Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Others stay awhile, making footprints on our hearts and we are never, ever the same.”
-Anonymous

“Two lives, two hearts joined together in friendship united forever in love.”   -Anonymous

“A mere friend will agree with you, but a real friend will argue.”  -Russian Proverb

“A friend is someone, who upon seeing another friend in immense pain, would rather be the one experiencing the pain than to have to watch their friend suffer.”  -Amanda Grier

“You may be one person to the world, but you may be the world to one person.”
-Anonymous

The quotes above are very inspiring to me. True friends are really hard to find, but when you find one, he or she is a true gem that you should never take for granted or forget. Treasure them for who they are. That is how I value my friends. How about you? Who is a friend to you?
