What It’s Really Like To Be A Working Mom [2 Infographics]

Working-Moms-Twitter-Birds-Main

For me, being a working mom is just part of life. I only have one child, and he’s eleven years old now, so I’m beyond the stage of changing diapers while answering a conference call. But just because children get a little older, it doesn’t mean our responsibilities end. Even though he’s not crawling under my desk anymore, I can still multitask with the best of them. It’s just what working moms do. It becomes a lifestyle, and juggling everything each day provides a unique kind of adrenaline rush. If you are a working mom, I’m sure you know exactly what I mean.

I’ve closed many deals while standing on the playground watching Henry play basketball, and I’ve written many of my Bit Rebels articles while sitting in my car at his school and using my iPhone or iPad hotspot to connect to my laptop in the front seat. I don’t say any of this to complain though. I love being a mom. It’s the best yet the hardest job in the whole world. I love all aspects of my life, and I don’t want to give anything up. For that reason, I don’t mind the hectic schedule and the small amount of sleep I get each night.

Since Mother’s Day is in a few days, I thought it might be appropriate to share with you a few infographics I saw floating around this week which describe what it’s really like to be a working mom and grapple with the career/life balance on a daily basis. The first one is called What It’s Like To Be A Working Mom, and it is by The Ladders. They surveyed 250 moms to put this together. The article written about it on Forbes is a great read if you want to check that out. The second one is called Modern Mothers, and it’s an infographic I saw on Mashable that was commissioned by H&R Block. It focuses more on mommy bloggers, who by the way are some of the most influential bloggers in the world!

Before I close this out, I’d like to give a special shout-out to all the multitasking dads out there who are very involved in their children’s lives. You can probably relate to a lot of these things I’ve mentioned. I salute you and send you a big w00t! All you moms and dads rock!
