The Octopus That Lives In A Beer Bottle

Octopus In Bottle In Ocean

We talk a lot about recycling on Bit Rebels. We only have one planet Earth, and once it’s ruined, we can’t just make another one. We have to each take responsibility and do our individual parts to help the environment thrive. It’s really the only way to make a difference. It really takes the participation of everyone. Even if what you do feels like it’s not helping, if a bunch of people do a bunch of little things, it will add up to a big change. I love that quote by William James that reads, “Act like what you do makes a difference because it does!

It warms my heart though when we see nature adapt to accommodate some of the stupid things we do. It’s almost like sometimes plants and animals are saying, “You people don’t know what you are doing, but we forgive you, and we’ll work around it.” You only need to watch the first 30 seconds of this video to feel that.

Someone carelessly threw an empty beer bottle into the ocean. A precious little octopus decided it would make a cozy house. As you can see, when he does his little wiggle, he can easily get out of it. I wonder if after he goes out looking for food and taking a stroll on the ocean floor if he will go back to it. Probably not. I’m glad to know that beer bottle served a purpose, at least for this one little octopus.
