Star Trek Face Pancakes: The Perfect Pancakes For Trekkies

star-trek-face-pancakes-breakfast

Pancakes are one of life’s most guilty pleasures. Add a few dollops of whipped cream and some fresh strawberries, and you’ve got yourself one of the best breakfasts in the whole world, or at least to me. Apparently a lot of geeks like pancakes, and we’ve seen several people geek them up over the years. We’ve featured everything from these Star Wars Pancake Molds to the Pancake-Making LEGO Robot. One thing I haven’t seen before now though are Star Trek pancakes, or in this case, Star Trek face pancakes which are the perfect edible portraits of Star Trek characters.

That’s right, now you can eat Spock or Uhura’s face with your coffee in the morning. Well, you could if you were master pancake artist Nathan Shields. On Nathan’s website he wrote (about the picture below), “Spock posed for a picture with my son just before boldly going where no man has gone before.” Nathan can make a pancake out of anything. Seriously. When you look at his site, you’ll be blown away. It suddenly makes all the round pancakes I’ve eaten my whole life seem so…ordinary.

The detail in each one of these Star Trek faces is incredible. I can’t even draw these Star Trek faces on a piece of paper and make them look real, so I have no idea how Nathan does it with pancake mix. It would make sense that certain parts of the pancake would have to cook longer to get the contrast in colors, but I won’t even try to pretend to know how he does that. It’s simply the ultimate in pancake creativity.

The whole reason Nathan makes pancake art is to entertain his children. What a wonderful father! I can’t wait to see what he turns into a pancake next. In addition to Spock’s face, I’d like to eat an R2-D2 pancake. Too bad there isn’t a restaurant where you can order character pancakes. That would be awesome!
