Long Distance Romances Just Got Better, Or Did They?

With social media and online dating sites becoming more and more popular, long distance romances are also on the rise. In the past, the only way to say goodnight in the evenings to your long distance lover was through a computer generated source like email, Skype, social media, wave, etc… or phone/text, none of which are very personal.

Pillow Talk is changing all that. It is a project aimed at networking long distance lovers. According to YouTube, “Each lover has a pillow and a chest sensor which they wear to bed at night. Their chest sensor wirelessly transmits and communicates with the other person’s pillow. Placing your head on the pillow allows you to hear the real-time heartbeat of your lover. The result is an intimate interaction between two lovers, regardless of the distance between them.”

Personally, I think it’s a bit far fetched to call this an “intimate interaction,” but then again, I don’t have a long distance lover. Perhaps if I did, this would be an option I would consider. Nah… I take that back, hugging a pillow is just not a substitute! :)
