My parents have been wonderful in rearing us all 4 when we were growing up.  Specially my dad, he always encouraged us to study hard, finish our course and when he sees that we are interested in something, he always makes it a point to give us that extra boost.

Here is a girl Charmaine Clarice Relucio Pempengco (born May 10, 1992), best known as Charice Pempengco, or simply Charice , is a Filipina singer who rose to popularity through YouTube.

Pempengco was born in San Pedro, Laguna, Philippines. She and her younger brother, Carl, were raised solely by their mother, Raquel, after they left their father due to domestic violence when Pempengco was three years old.

To help support the family, she began competing in amateur singing contests at age seven, from town fiestas in their province of Laguna to several vocal competitions on TV. She is said to have joined over 80 singing contests

In 2005, Pempengco joined ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corporation’s Little Big Star, a talent show in the Philippines loosely patterned after American Idol. Eliminated after her first performance, she was later called back as a wildcard contender and eventually became a finalist. Although she was a consistent top scorer in the final rounds, she only finished in third place via SMS voting.

Pempengco made minor appearances in local television shows and TV commercials, but essentially had fallen off the radar after her stint at Little Big Star. It was not until 2007 that Pempengco gained worldwide recognition after Dave Duenas, an avid supporter, started posting videos of her live performances onto YouTube under the username FalseVoice. The videos garnered millions of hits making Pempengco an internet phenomenon.

I have included some video clips of her singing.  You will be amazed with the power of her voice.  So if you have kids, and you see their potential, guide them.  Whether it be in singing or in other fields, who knows they can be the next shining star that touches other people’s lives.

Charice sang a duet with Celine Dion in Madison Square Garden last Sept 15. ‘08. Charice is a teen singing sensation discovered in YouTube. One of her dreams was to sing with her ultimate idol Celine Dion. This duet is a dream come true to her. She was 16 years old when they did this duet.

Sixteen year-old singing sensation Charice Pempengco performs the “Star Spangled Banner” in front of 57,099 (the largest attendance ever) at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles for the Dodgers’ Opening Day pregame ceremony.

I love this article! I have been following Charice’s story from you-tube to Ellen degeneres, oprah, celine dion WOW! She even appeared on British television. She has such a phenominal talent but her humble kind and generous nature is clear and so inspiring when I read about her difficult start in life. She is a true star and hope she continues to shine. Great article Misty! :)

great article. what a talent!

i’ve got a 5 yr old boy who loooves Rock Band. he’s playing all the songs on “Hard” and many songs on “Expert” for both guitar and drums. of course, there’s no transferable skill with the guitar controller, but you could argue that the Rock Band drum kit has far more transferable skill to an actual drum set.

i don’t know that he’ll be the next coming of Alex Van Halen or Tommy Lee (yikes) but it’s pretty neat to watch him go!
