Droid To The World: A Creative Robot Nativity Scene

Robot Nativity Scene With Lego

If you celebrate Christmas, you might have a nativity scene displayed in your home. Some of the churches here in Atlanta used to put nativity scenes outside, but last year someone stole all the baby Jesus’ from around town, so now they don’t do that much anymore. I still giggle when I think about that prank, even though it’s probably not very funny.

I need a new nativity scene, but I have yet to find one that I really like. I’ve been looking for a few years. This one, which just sold on Etsy yesterday, is so creative and fun that I just had to share it with you. What could be cuter than a baby Jesus in a nativity scene? Well, a droid baby Jesus of course!

This beauty of a creation was made by Etsy member dayoftherobot. As you see, two of the three kings come bearing gifts of technology, and the third one brought Lego. Those are my kind of gifts! The glowing baby Jesus shines his light from non-warm LEDs. I especially like the robot Mary and Joseph. This gives me all kinds of ideas for how to spice up a traditional nativity scene by giving it a modern day flair. It would be fun to mashup a nativity scene with Apple products. Can you imagine Mary sharing her news about the baby with her iPhone 4S? Maybe she would even send a tweet about it. Very nice!
