How To: Carve Your Pumpkin Into A Beer Keg

It’s that time of year again, and I’ve decided instead of writing about how to carve an extreme pumpkin or how to make geek Halloween decorations, I am going to spice it up a little this year. I’m in the mood to have more adult fun this Halloween. So, what could be better than carving a big ‘ol pumpkin into a beer keg? Yup, with this super simple tutorial, you’ll be pouring your favorite beer straight from your pumpkin this year, and if you do it right, you won’t even have to drink any pumpkin seeds that sneak in there.

Before you glance at this beer keg and think it looks complicated, let me just tell you it isn’t. As a matter of fact, this will be easier to make than carving a wicked pumpkin face on your pumpkin, so no worries. Celebrations.com editor Melissa Klein shows you exactly how to do it in this 4-minute video. All you’ll need to make this beer keg is one large pumpkin, a magic marker, a pumpkin carving kit, a tap (plastic spigot) and lots and lots of Oktoberfest or Halloween beer.

Of course, if you want to be all sophisticated, you could even put punch or wine in your pumpkin beer keg, just know it might not be as much fun. Also, be sure you don’t put the liquid in the pumpkin until the last minute. If it’s left in there too long, the pumpkin will absorb it and it could get all mushy. Be sure to chill your beer or other drinks really well before pouring them in there too. You can also decorate the outside of your new pumpkin beer keg. You can get the full text tutorial on Totally Awesome DIY Pumpkin Beer Keg. This is going to be so much fun!
