Computer Stress Is Worse Than Relationship Stress [Infographic]

computer-stress-very-frustrating

How much time each day do you spend on your computer? 8 hours? 12 hours? 14 hours? Most of us are spending more time than ever on our laptops, tablets and mobile devices, and it’s safe to say it’s more time than we spend with the other people in our lives. Our computers can bring us happiness and frustration, just like our relationships, and many people say computer stress is more frustrating to deal with than their relationship stress.

A few days ago, the WSJ published an article about the stats this infographic below. According to that article called Is Your Computer Causing Relationship Stress, computer stress can come from two places. First of all, when we have to restart, upgrade, install a new router, deal with memory loss, work with old hardware or software etc., we can get more frustrated than we do when we experience relationship stress. Secondly, many times the computer stress we’re feeling, or just simply the massive amount of time we spend on our computers, can spill over into causing relationship stress.

It seems it’s all intertwined together. Couple that with the fact that many people sleep with their smartphones or check their smartphones before saying “good morning” to their significant other in the morning only compounds the problem.

This infographic called Are Computers Breaking Our Hearts? by Crucial.com goes into all this in more detail. It’s interesting to see how the stats change with age. Since old hardware and software can be a major cause for computer stress, I’m sure this is not only affected by the age of the user, but the age of the computer also.

This data was gathered from a survey of 2,691 adults in the United States over the past few months. The sampling of people and the geographical area are too small to make any sweeping generalizations, but it’s still something for you to think about when you take your laptop to bed with you tonight. If you had to choose one or the other, would you pick computer stress or relationship stress? I don’t want to choose. I don’t want either one.
