Chocolate Covered Deep Fried Triple Double Oreos

Fried Triple Double Oreo Cookies

Oh. My. Gosh. In case you’ve been living under a rock, you may not know that last month Triple Double Oreos hit the shelves at the supermarket. I’ve never seen a cookie get so much PR before. The Internet blew up about it, and even the most usually reserved websites got all gitty. These cookies aren’t just any cookie of course. These are super-cookies, and they have the strength to tempt even a person with the strongest willpower.

It’s interesting to me that I’ve read mixed reviews about them. My dear friend @dudeman718 was tweeting the other day that they are better than anyone could ever imagine. However, the taste-tester over at Gothamist wasn’t quite as complimentary. I think it has to do with the fact that some of us wish Triple Double Oreos had triple the frosting instead of an extra cookie. For people like me who like the cream inside, it might be just a little too much cookie. It still surprises me how few calories an Oreo has. A regular Oreo has about 50 calories, and a Triple Double Oreo has about 100 calories.

Well, as long as we are going to splurge on these cookies, why not cover them in chocolate and dunk them in the deep fryer for a while? Nick over at Dude Foods has gone where no Oreo cookie lover has gone before. These are deep fried Triple Double Oreos. He wrote, “They sort of puffed out into little balls as they were deep frying, so they ended up almost like doughnuts. The deep fryer also softened up the Oreo cookies and melted their chocolate covering a little bit, which made biting into them almost feel like I was eating a freshly baked cookie that just came straight out of the oven.

Making these seems very simple, and I can’t imagine anyone needing an actual recipe. The pictures below say it all. However, you can click over to Dude Foods to get more specifics like what kind of batter he used (read the comments), etc… Nick, you know don’t you that dieters around the world are cursing you to hell and loving you at the same time, right?
