Anatomically Correct Human Organ Pastries & Chocolate Teeth

Anatomically-Correct-Body-Organ-Cookies

We always say that it’s important to learn something new every day, and today I learned what a macaron is (not to be confused with a macaroon). According to Wikipedia, a macaron is a sweet meringue-based confectionary commonly filled with ganache, buttercream or jam filling sandwiched between two cookies. Oh, and it also says it will melt in your mouth. Yeah, I really need to try one of those, like now. What you see below are anatomically correct macarons. Wouldn’t it be fun to learn about the human body by eating it? If we’re talking pastries, my answer is definitely yes.

Miss Insomnia Tulip created these macarons and displayed them so you can see where these delicious organs are inside your own body. She created the brain, heart, lungs, liver, stomach, large intestine, small intestine, kidneys and even the male and female reproductive system. Yup, it’s all right there! It’s the human body in all its glory. What she did is create a traditional macaron mixture which she then painted. I’m blown away that someone made these, and they would be perfect for any zombie gathering or Halloween party.

As long as we’re talking about edible body parts, I thought I’d take a moment to share with you another baker’s body creation. My favorite dental student of all time, Erica from Erica’s SweetTooth, made her teeth in chocolate. Yup! She used the lab to make plastic impression trays and everything (ewww..suddenly I’m taken back to the days of going to the orthodontist). She even used pink and white chocolate. You can read about how she did it on My Teeth In Chocolate. This isn’t the first time I’ve written about Erica’s adventures with her teeth. You can also check out her Anatomically Correct Tooth Cupcakes. It’s so much more fun learning about the human body from goodies like this than from a book, don’t you think?
