1. Sell What You Don’t Need

Many of us end up having books that we do not need. The more the books, the more difficult it gets to take care of them. So it is a good idea to sell used books. This helps others to get access to books at a lower rate and you can take better care of your existing books.

2. Clean Your Hands, Always!

When you are taking out a book or going through books, it is always a good idea to clean your hands. This ensures that the book pages do not get dirty finger prints. Many a time, the books that you are going through have a light cover. So if you have dirt on your hands, there is a high chance that you might make it dirty. If you are washing your hands, make sure to dry them well before you take up the books.

3. Keeps Books Flat Or Straight Up

How many times have you kept a book slanted to one of its sides? This not only creates pressure on the bind and makes them fall apart but the pages are more likely to tear more if you do not put them straight. The best way to store books is by keeping them flat on the sides or making them stand up straight.

4. Keep Books Away From Direct Sunlight

If you have a shelf or library of books in your room, make sure that it is not under direct sunlight. When you are keeping a book under sunlight, you are automatically making them turn yellow and pale. This also weakens the spine of the books, making them fall apart easily.

5. Shelf Similar Sized Books Together

When similar sized books are stacked together, they are able to support each other. You need to keep the books stacked one against the other and they will keep each other well supported/ this keeps the books from falling or becoming loose at the binding.

These tips will help to make sure that you do not end up damaging your books. If you are a bibliophile, books are indeed your best friend and you should make sure that you are taking care of them. If you love sharing your books, it is always a good idea to make a list of the people who you are lending your books to. This will help you to keep track on them and not lose any book.
