This is so funny to me because if you are an entrepreneur, an avid blogger, a social media fanatic or if you’ve experienced any kind of success in whatever field you are in, you know that one of the kisses of death is when we compare ourselves to others. It’s important to swim in our own lane so to speak and try to beat our personal best each day.
From a blogging perspective, this is especially true in my opinion because the Internet community can be very kind and very harsh all on the same day. There are constant ups and downs, and the only way to really make sense of it all is to keep our head down and work. I always hear the song Eye of the Tiger in the back of my mind when I think about that (minus the Members Only jacket). Before this day is over, I will have written and published six posts on this blog. To some people that is a lot, to some people that is a little, but in my mind, it doesn’t matter what other people think about what I’m doing. I know that is what I need to do today to achieve my goal, and I’m just putting all my energy into being productive.
However, nobody’s perfect, and we all compare ourselves to others every once in a while. I think it’s only human nature. Just remember in those moments when you might be feeling inferior that you never know what’s happening behind the scenes. Trust me on this one. If you’ve got some haters in your life, keep in mind they are most likely just jealous of you. The best we can do is just support each other in every way and work to continuously better ourselves. The people over at Slacktory put together a few graphics which illustrate some ways in which everyone else is better than you and me. This cracks me up because I can see a lot of very funny truths in some of these. Enjoy!
