10 Best Impact Follows For Your Tweets

10 Best Impact Follows For Your Tweets

We all know that following the right people and to interact with them can do miracles for your following as well as for the message you want to spread whether it be business, friendship or just connecting with new people. There are so many “Get Followed Quick” schemes out there that I literally get scared they’ll take over the wonderful world of Twitter. Don’t fall for them. Don’t for a second think they will do wonders for your following or your stream cause they won’t. Simple as that.

The best way to gain new followers and to get your minds equations out there is to be yourself and to interact with people. Make them interested in you and your tweets. It doesn’t have to be harder than that.

Even though this is, in my opinion, the ONLY way to securely gain new followers it can be a good idea to try and interact with people that have great influence and get their tweets re-tweeted a lot. That’s what this list is for. Here’s a list of 10 great people to add to your following and to interact with if you want to gain more influence and get your message out to people that might be interested in it. These people will actually talk to you and interact with you for the most part.

Impact Follows

Just a side note. Don’t blast them with DM’s asking them to re-tweet your tweets. All you have to do is talk to them and when they like what you are tweeting they are most likely to pass it on.

Thanks buddy! It’s really who you connect to and who you decided to actually talk to. There is nothing else magical you can do to impact your rt’s or follows. Best thing is to talk to people. :)

Wicked! So glad I made the team!!

And just to show you my appreciation I’ll give you my testimonial or recommendation on all of them.

* Guy Kawasaki – stealing half cents just like Superman 3 from all his shortened links and his mafia type “invitation” to AllTop – definite mafioso ;)

* Reg Saddler – teetering and tottering between internet whore and the guy known to hit on anything that will call his mobile at 3am :)

* Smashing Magazine – Some weirdo German who’s real claim to fame is not the best Design Mag out there, oh no… it’s much deeper… it’s #info porn. That’s where he makes the money ;)

* Jason Pollock – Holy crap! Can you tweet any more crap that’s trendy?! The trendiest and always up on the newest/latest… he’s your Entertainment Tonight.

* Sharon Hayes – This blip’in weirdo should be shot. Song after song after song. What?! Did Twitter thrown in a bunch of quarters into Sharon’s piggy bank and now she’s the freakin jukebox?! At least she has good taste in music?! :)

* Susan Elaine – The “Hugging” Mother of Twitter. She’s on top of everything, especially music. You’ll see her around some of the fan clubs preying on unsuspecting Collective Soul groupies ;) ~hugs~

* Calvin Lee – I heard him say in response to “Wow, Calvin! You’re #22 on Grader” and in response, “Ya, just having a slow start.” What?! Are you kidding me? The guy could never have a slow start unless he drank way more Tequila than he should have just like a kid I know in the tenth grade. *glug-glug-glug* ;)

* Chetan – I don’t know whether I should ask him for his autograph or design me a wallpaper for making up acronyms?! Can you make me one for this? TTHTBT?! Oh.. it stands for (T)rying (T)oo (H)ard (T)o (B)e (T)rendy :)

* Iconic88 – This guy is definitely the author behind “The Secret”… I’m sure of it. He’s positively the only guy who doesn’t drown in kindness and would rather “kill em with kindness” ;)

* Khayyam Wakil – Don’t even get me started with this guy. Seriously. Never leaves his computer and probably can’t go out into the light. Mos def he’s a hybrid vampire that is half vampire, half computer ;)

Those are my two cents. Go spend them ;)

Great advice. The best way to learn how to use twitter it to consult with the experts. Pay attention to what comes through their streams. You’ll pick up quite a bit. My followers jumped significantly as I learned from the above mentioned twentors :)

Yes, Richard is right. You don’t need to use those get followed quick schemes. Don’t do them!

The key to get many followers is the art of the tweet. Interacting with others is key. Retweeting helps spread information and you can gain followers from that action.

Look at what people are retweeting of you. If they found what you tweeted then it must be of some interest. If people comment about one of your tweets then that might be an area you should explore.

That’s just a few of my secret tips to get followers. I’m now at 14,000 followers now, so I’m doing something right.

I can personally recommend Calvin Lee – @mayhemstudios and
Iconic88 – @Iconic88 are great personal friends of mine.

You can always follow me @captainjack63 I follow everyone back. If you annoy me with DM’s of your products or services, I will unfollow or block you. Just be real when you tweet me and we will get along fine.

The post starts out right but drifts towards a kind of cheap conclusion. I personally don´t follow people or retweet people because they will boost my follower count. In fact I really don´t care about how big my follower count is – I get my twitter value from the people I follow and not from the people who follow me, in turn I hope to give value to those who follow me and not just use them to boost my page impressions and AD revenue. In my opinion this “impact” following is NOT in the “spirit” of the twitter community.
Come on people keep it real!

I’ve only tried communicating with Pollock, Guy and Calvin, and the only one who replied back was Calvin! Now, I suppose you could argue that with all the thousands of replies and RTs they receive persistence is the name of the game but honestly, after 3 attempts, I’m over you. I don’t care who you are. If and when I communicate with you or vice versa, I take it as meaningful communication. On another note, the spirit of Twitter isn’t about gaining followers as this post suggests. When Twitter first started, it was simply another means to making connections with people you either 1 – already know or 2 – couldn’t otherwise because of time and location. Now, because of “savvy” marketers, bloggers and attention-craved fame-whores, Twitter has been relegated to a massive popularity contest. That isn’t to say that everyone uses Twitter for that reason but, be real, none of you would be giving this post such praise if that weren’t true for yourselves.

What I do agree with in this post is the warning to be wary of schemes to get tons of followers. And, even if you do get 1M followers, how many of them will you actually have real dialogue with? If you want influence, be influential on your own merit. Riding on the coattails of more popular Tweeters is akin to being a groupie or the annoying person asking to take a photograph with a famous personality so they can show off to all their friends. Will they ever come over to your house to have dinner?

For me, I enjoy linking with real people that foster thoughtful ideas or share more than “50 of the Freshest Designs You’ll Ever See”. If I wanted that kind of information, I would have Googled it myself. To me, many of those kinds of Tweets come from bloggers seeking to drive traffic, get subscribers and hence $$$$$$. I don’t know about you but I don’t see potentially new friends as dollar signs. I see colleagues, peers and friends I hope to keep and, if I’m lucky enough, be able to meet up some day on a snowboarding trip, surfari or conference.

Am I being a turd? Maybe. But I’m just expressing my opinion and that’s all that it is. An opinion. Just like this post.

agree w/evil genius and arnold – and am a little conflicted about the number of followers you have vs. how relevant they are to you or your goals for twitter and other social media/networking.

i follow people who i find interesting or who i can learn from. i do follow some of the people on this list mainly because i usually learn something from them. but not really because they have a ton of followers…and i have communicated with those few, but have never received any response back. maybe that says something about me?

anyway…thanks for the list! i’m still not sure about following people to impact my own # of followers…however, tempting…

To clarify any misunderstandings. The “Impact” word used in the title is not in any way connected to the number of followers you could gain by following these people. It is mainly chosen to articulate the possible spread your tweets could get. So, for example, if you have a tweet about an “Amber Alert” for example, you get the maximum coverage and can reach out to far more people.

That’s all the “Impact” word is there for. As I explained in the beginning of the post. There are so many “Get followers fast” schemes out there that it’s just insane. Don’t fall for them. If you want to reach a lot of people, interact, find your new friends and these people are much likely to start talking to you. Besides they are all great people. :)

You’re recommending some good people, but for the wrong reasons. It is wrong to follow someone because you think that they are so powerful in the Twitterverse that your retweeting them will build your popularity.

The reason these people have done well is because they have followed their own personal visions for what they want to do, not because they were lapdogs to others.

Interesting post. I don’t have anything to sell or a blog to direct traffic to, so I go on Twitter just for fun. The people who follow me honor me greatly, but I never have been able to understand why they do. I already follow most of the people in your list by accident, I guess.

I was shocked when Reg Saddler actually asked me a question about one of my tweets. Who,me? I looked around. Nobody else there but my dogs. So, it’s true

that some of them, at least, do interact – and he didn’t have someone else doing his tweets for him.

Thanks for the Post Richard. I do follow and connect well on a personal level with a few on the list.

I see the same names promoted by many others because I feel the people on this list had a strong bond at the earlier times of Twitter forming a good circle of friends which has kept their influencing status at the top tier of Twitter, with the fine exception of Guy Kawasaki. Guy is in a class of his own in my opinion.

Saying this, the tweeps on this list do tweet good info and retweetable posts whilst able to influence the masses, however, I do believe that there are others as strong in influence and quality tweets but not as promoted because they are not within the same band of friends. This is just my opinion based on observations in last few months.

Other tweep that I would include in this list is no other than @bitrebels’ writer: @adamsconsulting, one of my fave blogger. I do believe she also has a huge impact on whomever she retweets as well as a very personable and posts one of the best tweets and blogs on Twitterverse.

Kudos to All!
