Will We Date Robots In The Future?

01/18/2010 - 5:00 am By Diana Adams

I’ve watched several futuristic movies lately and they always leave me wondering what life will be like long after we are all gone. Will it be like it is in the movies? Probably not, but I wish there was a way to get a glimpse into the lifestyle of the future.

There is no doubt that everything will be different than it is now. What about relationships? Will they be different too? Do you think there will ever come a day when we might date robots? Will people in the future be classified as heterosexual, homosexual, bisexual or robosexual? You never know!

German digital artist Franz Steiner apparently thinks so. He created a collection of pictures that are not only visually stunning but that also portray a creepy yet disturbingly romantic future. You can learn more about Franz by visiting his website at http://www.franzsteiner.de and you can view his online portfolio at http://franz.cgsociety.org.

Thank you, Franz, for the inspiration.

I think that is when you know you’ve tapped into a true passion. Whatever that thing may be, if you could do it all day or night long, lose track of time, ‘wake up’ ten hours later, and still thirst for more, that is a passion, and I feel like I’ve found that in my writing.” Diana also spends many hours each week assisting the homeless men and women in Atlanta. The future will be stranger than we know. We may very well be the robots.

Hi Di,

Love this. What I see are pictures showing a woman with an ideal man, er robot.

This robot suits her every need. He pleases her in bed, challenges her mind, impresses her in the kitchen, feels safe in his arms, is strong enough to handle herself in his world and last, can make her swoon as she looks into his eyes.

I’m extremely lucky! I have one of those robots IRL maybe that’s why I see what I see here. I’ve been waiting and I finally found him. The one downfall to this Robot of the future is the hinges. What if he bends his knee and it pinches your skin? :)

I mean, robo -hitachi wand – yeah, I get that! But damn, where’s the skin to skin? Can’t beat the warmth and comfort of a soothing hand…

Aww.. I think that is the most romantic thing I’ve ever seen you write. So sweet. NOTHING beats skin to skin, that is soooo true.

I think it’s the intelligence that seems to be behind the robots eyes that make me think: DAMN, these are hawt! :)

Hey Donna! I don’t know, but for real.. something about these pictures is very romantic and seductive to me too. Maybe you are right, maybe it is the intelligence that is so sexy. Haha!! Thanks for your comment.

Yup… just like the movie, “Bicentennial Man” with Robin Williams as the robot. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0182789/ Actually there are already non-robotic prototypes available at (warning – adult content) http://www.realdoll.com/ which, according to the website, can be upgraded to eventually include robotic components. The future is here. LOL

This robot dude pictured can’t be the perfect husband. He has no tongue.

But I’m open-minded about inter-humanoid relationships. Cyborg babies are so cute their curly hair and their cold deadly infrared laser gaze. :)
