Alright, so I was set on putting more effort into learning more about the Kindle and what it was all about. I can honestly say that I haven’t spent enough energy or time in reading up on the new Kindle and the awesomeness it probably packs. In my attempt to find some nice reviews about it that were not done by the creators themselves I hit YouTube with full force doing searches left and right. Some just didn’t look right to me so I didn’t even bother pressing the play button on them. I continued searching until I after a little more than 5 minutes saw something that looked mighty interesting.

A review done by a user. There are PLENTY of such reviews on YouTube but this one caught my interest quite fast. It looked like a really good video capture and good quality is always nice to watch. Sound and picture wise.

So I started watching it trying to pass the information into the proper parts of my brain where I knew I could store them. The clip, lasting some 6 minutes and 30 seconds, was a great review…I am sure. Watching it gave me…just about nothing. The quality and the wealth of information was really nicely organized and the different locations were really…uh…distracting.

After watching it I can honestly say that I had no clue what the girl (Melissa Jenna Compagnucci) who was reviewing this amazing hardware had been talking about. How some people actually believe people will listen to their really nice review when they look like models and are tech fanatics like the rest of us geeks I will never understand. I feel kind of guilty when I say this as I feel as I should have been listening closer to what she was talking about instead of just watching her.

I am sure this must sound really weird and maybe I am odd in some way but it really put things in perspective. All of a sudden I understood that…I’m a geek!! I know, I should be ashamed. Sorry, but is it just me? LOL

Richard,

This is a really cute article, but I have news for you, it does not prove that you are a geek. It proves that you are a MAN. lol

In all fairness, she is totally adorable. Thanks for sharing with us what you are doing when you are busy at work. Hahaha!!

You just need more practice getting tech information from beautiful women. I recommend http://geekbrief.tv hosted by the lovely yet geeky Cali Lewis. Watch it until you can recite back the specs she’s discussing for the latest LCD display, and you’ll not only have increased your tech knowledge, but have sharpened your concentration skills as well!

Ricahrd, when I saw the video, I immediately came to the same conclusion as Diana…the problem was mostly because of the differences between how the genders often communicate.

That aside, I didn’t see this as a hardware review but a social-use review. The question being addressed wasn’t, “Is this device cool enough to buy?” but instead, “Is this device relevant or useful enough to how I’ll use it to justify spending money on it?”

I enjoyed this take on the Kindle. It actually seemed more relevant than a pure hardware review.

Totally agree with you on that point. And it further proves how little attention I paid to the right cause. DOH!!

mj here. If this were 1986 I would print you out a GIANT banner on big long perforated printer paper, and it would read “Thank you SO much for not marginalizing my content or making reference to my anatomy!”

Being a woman on the internet sometimes feels like walking through a dark ally alone, at night, in a foreign city, so I thank you for stating your opinion in a fair and non-troll-like manner. What a wonderful example of behavior on the internets!

She’s attractive, sure. And I have to say that the first two outfits were potentially distracting. With my day job, however, I can suffer such distractions and still keep my mind on what I’m doing. All in all it’s a good review, though how anyone whose actually listened to an audiobook could tolerate the Kindle’s audio reader for even a second is beyond me. That’s SO not a selling point for me, and is actually somewhat controversial in itself. I don’t recommend it.

MJ’s nails are a bit short.

I don’t like her glasses.

At least, there’s not a lot of teddy bears on the bed. That kind of thing scares me.

Regarding paper and hard back books, did she ever hear of a book mark?

I think MJ will be raving about the iPad. It has color!

MJ: Did I mention the iPad has color? :P

This is a good general use Kindle review. While I agree Melissa is adorable, you can find adorable anywhere. Good content is harder to find.

Thanks for the video Melissa and the article Richard.
