This articel would have been better if the abbreviations were categorized into those that have arisen just on twitter, such as RT and those that are have been in common use for years on message boards and text.

Technically an abbreviation is not an acronym unless it's a pronouncable word e.g. RADAR and NASA and LOL are acronyms; RT and TMI are not. I have heard people pronounce ROFL but when saying OMG they always say each letter individually so that doesn't count as an acronym.

Nice list, thanks, Diana.

Enjoyed reading the comments, too! Seems to mee that for old-er-ish folks it doesn't matter whether it's IRC or sms or Twitter, gibberish all the same =)

FYI seems to be missing from the list: for your information
ASAP (too obvious? took ages to figure it out back in high school) as soon as possible
CCL couldn't care less

Thanks Diana. This is Gr8. I remember the first time a client put in an email LOL, I thought I wonder if he knows it means "Lots of Love"....of course, I was the one that laughed out loud when I realized what he was communicating. While I believe he "loves" the service I give him, I learned quickly we were both LOL!!

Your story referring to this good topic is perfectly done and a lot of scholars would use that for their publish dissertation. But some of people still use the support of the thesis writing service.

The above comment needs to type legible english so we can understand the wee pee pee syndrome going on in between the two statements that "this sucks".

An abbreviation w/some definition 4 u:

L to the Z to the R = Loser. n. Inept person who doesn't respect the keyboard he slobbers on.

I hope you peek back in, ewoks and on slight chance that you do I'mma leave an abbreviation for you:

ZipIT = if you don't have anything nice or constructive to comment about then don't bother. Just STFU.
