Oh, hey, if you're worried about bears, here's some options. Get sleeping bag used by climbers - suspend from tall tree out of reach of bears and rest easy. Afraid of heights? Get sleeping box AKA coffin and have friends bury you with oxygen tanks for duration of night. Don't want to be hung or buried to avoid bears? West coast solution: Bring friend along on trip who isn't able to run faster than you. When/if bear shows up - run away. (offer prayer, and can of bear mace, for friend) Cool toys! I think most campers are geeks at heart. Otherwise, we wouldn't be in the woods in the first place;-). However, please do not go into the woods with only Listerine to protect you. With Lymes Disease and West Nile becoming more prevelent Mosquitos are not just a nuceinse, they are a serious health risk. Mosquitos kill more people world wide then any other animal. It's true look it up. Your best defense against Mosquitos is a permetherine treatment for your clothes and a product called Ultrathon by 3M for your skin. Use a coarse grind coffee and boiling water, wait 4 minutes and press. You have great camp coffee without a coffee pot. The secret to not getting grounds in your mouth is to not fill it too full.
