A diamond is a symbol of beauty, love, wealth and strength (it’s the hardest known natural material). Diamond engagement rings can be traced back to the 1400s and are still a strong tradition today.

I did not realize until recently that diamonds come in a rainbow of colors. Of course, the colored stones are rare, but can be found in blue, pink, yellow, orange, green, black, red, purple and even grey.

The most fascinating question is: How big is the world’s largest cut diamond? As you can imagine, there are many different answers to that question. So who is the expert? For this article, we will assume that the Guinness Book of World Records is correct.

According to that source, “The world’s largest cut diamond is an unnamed Fancy Black, containing small red diamond crystals. It weighs 555.55 carats and was polished into 55 facets over several years and completed in June 2004. The repetitive use of the number five is culturally significant in the Islamic world, and was inspired by Ran Gorenstein (Belgium), who also commissioned this creation.”

Wow, that’s one big diamond!

Since many times a diamond ring is a symbol of an engagement to get married, I thought it would be fun to include this happy video of marriage proposals. Enjoy!

I think that is when you know you’ve tapped into a true passion. Whatever that thing may be, if you could do it all day or night long, lose track of time, ‘wake up’ ten hours later, and still thirst for more, that is a passion, and I feel like I’ve found that in my writing.” Diana also spends many hours each week assisting the homeless men and women in Atlanta. Now that’s a diamond! How beautiful and I wonder how many are out there that haven’t been found yet?

I looove the video. nice touch, Diana. :) I’m a sucker for romance and think its probably one of the best feelings being surprised w/a proposal for marriage. I’m attending a wedding this saturday and will have the tissues handy. My friend met her beau by breaking the law. She had her phone in her ear at a stop light and he pulled her over. He thought she was cute. :)

Ahhhh romance. Pour it on, men! Or should I say…bring it?! lol

;)
