The Phone That Becomes The Current Weather

While I was attending University, there were a few years when I wanted to be a Meteorologist. I’ve always been fascinated by weather, especially when Mother Nature becomes a mad scientist, and we see crazy weather patterns.

For example, just this past Friday, it was a mild sunny day in Georgia. Out of nowhere, while I was driving down the highway, big balls of hail started to fall from the sky. What caused that? Why didn’t they melt before they hit the ground? How cold is it up there? It’s all very interesting to me.

However, like in many cities, the Meteorologists here on the local news are wrong more than they are right. I don’t even watch the news anymore. They say you are a true geek if you look up weather data on your computer instead of walking outside and looking up at the sky; I do both. This concept design phone, called the Window Phone, by Seunghan Song, would be a dream come true for me. Its clear touchscreen displays the current weather. For example, if it’s raining, you’ll see computer-generated raindrops. If it’s snowing, you will see virtual frost. How cool is that? I have no idea how this technology would work, but I like it.

Do you notice that there isn’t a dial pad in these pictures? That is because this phone shown is in “weather” mode. To get it into “phone/messaging” mode, you simply blow on it and the screen changes. I love this little design a lot! I hope it becomes a reality one day.
