The Monopoly Game Made From Solid Gold

When I was young, I used to love playing Monopoly. I learned so much about managing money from that game. My sisters and I would play it all day long on the weekends. We always thought whoever got to be the banker was the luckiest player since that person got to pass out all the money.

As an adult, I don’t play Monopoly very often anymore since it’s a game that can take hours to finish. However, I would really like to have this gold Monopoly game for my collection.

The detail on this solid 18-karat gold game is almost unbelievable. Even the dice, which are worth $10,000, consist of 42 diamonds for the number dots. This game is worth two million dollars! Of course, the next thought that immediately pops into my head is, “Who the hell would buy this?” I’m sure there are people out there that could, but unfortunately, I don’t know of any of those people personally. That makes my chances of seeing this game in real life zip, but that’s okay, a girl can dream, right?

This game is on display at the Museum of American Finance in New York City through the end of the month. After that, it will be returned to the Smithsonian Institution National Museum of Natural History. The creator of this game donated it to the museum in memory of his late wife. See… True love wins out over money after all! And no, this game is not really for sale. Bummer, right? You were about to run out and buy it.
