Seattle’s Gum Wall: Disgustingly Creative Art!

How have I lived in the United States for as long as I have, and I’ve never heard about this place before now? I’ve written about Seattle before, after all, Fast Company magazine named Seattle the most creative city of the year in 2009.

However, I had no idea about this infamous Gum Wall until today. I am a germaphobe, so I don’t think I’d want to see this bacteria infested wall up close and personal; however, I love the pictures and I think it’s very creative, colorful collaboration!

This wall of gum is several inches thick (gag). From what I read online, it even smells like years of spit and saliva all gooooed up together and mashed on the bricks. Apparently it all started back in the early 90s. Someone littered their gum on the wall, then someone else put their gum next to it, and voila… years later it’s an artsy tourist attraction. This is really neat, in a gross kinda way!
