I Want This: NES Controller Car Engine Inside A 1989 Honda Civic

If you’re a fan of the retro video games from the ’80s, you will always remember the NES controller. I still have mine, and every time I look at it, that nostalgic feeling rushes over me. We’ve written dozens of articles about Nintendo mods and builds, but this is the first time I’ve seen one like this. This is a NES controller car engine. You have no idea how much I want this to be real, but I have to tell you that the controller is just painted on the car engine, but it’s done so well!

This was originally posted by reddit user mobuco. According to that thread, this NES controller car engine painting is inside a 1989 Honda Civic with a B16 swap. Click over here to photobucket to see what the outside of the car looks like. My question is, was that painting put on there recently, or did someone do it back in 1989 when this car was new? I wonder if that would add value to the car. Probably not, but for a retro gaming geek, it would be priceless.

I bet this wouldn’t be too hard to replicate. You’d just need some high heat paint and a steady hand (or maybe a stencil). It would also be neat to add some Nintendo sound effect buttons inside the car itself. Oh, and a Mario or Princess Peach painting on the hood of the car would be nice too – and you could paint the hubcaps to look like gold coins.

I don’t know who owns this car now, but whoever it is, he or she has something very special. There is always a place for retro gaming mods (or in this case…paintings) on Bit Rebels, and NES controller mods are my personal favorites. Love this!

It’s really just a painting on a regular car engine.
