Mind-Boggling Crocheted Taxidermy Animals

Animal Corchet Taxidermy Wall Pieces

I have seen a lot of crocheted things throughout the years here at Bit Rebels. We stumble over that stuff or people send it to us several times each week. Crocheted things are always creative, and they usually involve some cute little creations which pretty much make everyone say “awwww!” when they first lay eyes on them. However, there are of course a few crocheted things out there that don’t quite fit this mold. For example, a crocheted Darth Vader or a crocheted television set is fine and all, but when you start mashing up crochet with dead animals, you start to creep even me out. I mean, what is the point of that in the first place?

Artist Shauna Richardson has a whole different approach to the animal kingdom, at least when they are dead and hanging on the wall. I am sure these are not “real” animals that have just gotten a coat of crochet wrapped around them, but they sure look insanely real, or maybe they are. I haven’t done my research well enough on that detail I guess, but that’s not the point here. The point is to feature something that you probably never thought you would see in your entire lifetime.

Shauna’s pieces of art are crocheted taxidermy animals that will just blow your mind. Not only are they masterfully created, but the skills required to do this type of crocheting (that’s what I call it anyway) are just amazing. Each animal has a beautiful, thick and completely wrapping crochet texture all over it, and if I were to ever have a dead animal on my wall (I doubt I ever will though), these would be the only ones I would put up… and I would only do it for a scary weekend like Halloween or something like that. Have a look at these, and tell me they aren’t insanely crafty. There are plenty more to check out on Shauna Richardson’s website.
