Internet Fandom: Harry Potter, Twilight, Star Wars, Star Trek & More

Internet Fandom Popularity Infographic

Since we write a lot about Star Wars and Star Trek here on Bit Rebels, we are always joking around about which one is better, which one has cooler fans, and which one is the most inspiring. I love them both, but for different reasons. For me, Star Trek is all about the technology and the futuristic way they use their gadgets. I even wrote an article a while back about how you can create your own air-powered Star Trek door in your home. If you build one of those, just make sure you do it on the first floor of your house. After all, if it fails, you’ll need a way to get out of the room, and it might be through the window. I think that would be fun! Star Trek technology is the best, no doubt.

Star Wars, for me, is all about the characters. I could watch those movies dozens of times (oh wait, I’ve already done that) and never get tired of them. R2-D2 is my favorite robot of all time, and no other robot even comes close to him in my mind. I’m not the only one who feels that way either. Remember that woman who married R2-D2 in that twisted geek wedding ceremony? You can read about her here.

A few days ago, Cheezburger published an infographic they created which compares the online popularity of Star Wars, Star Trek, Harry Potter, Pokemon, Twilight and Doctor Who. I wish they would have added TARDIS, Portal, LOTR and a few other things to this list too. As you’ll see, they base their findings on Facebook likes, DeviantART submissions, eBay listings and more. There is a lot of information on here that from a fan perspective is a little disturbing. I’m still blown away by the number of people who love Twilight. I guess now we finally have the definitive answer about which one is more popular between Star Wars and Star Trek!
