Immortalize Your Youth With A LEGO Self-Portrait & Become A Minifig

immortalize-yourself-with-lego

If you grew up playing with LEGO, you know how fantastic those building blocks and minifigs are to play with. Whether you are still a LEGO-loving child at heart or have a child who now loves it as much as you did, you can immortalize your youth with a self-portrait of you as a minifig. LEGO building blocks have been the original inspiration for many architects, and have brought joy to many children around the world.

Today, there are many LEGO pieces from building creations to amusement parks, and the blocks are ranked according to appropriate age groups to match cognitive development and keep us challenged as we continue growing from our youth to adulthood. It’s clever since many adults still find pleasure in building creations with these simplistic blocks. Many people would agree with the LEGO motto created by Ole Kirk who encouraged his employee to never skimp on quality. The Lego Group’s motto is “det bedste er ikke for godt” which roughly translates to “only the best is the best” (more literally “the best is never too good”). It’s still their motto even today.

A store on the popular crafty site Etsy called TheWhimsicalFrog creates self-portraits of people to look like LEGO people, and they do a terrific job not only capturing the individuality of the person, but also making them look like actual LEGO minifigs. The sizes and canvases vary, but original pieces are usually 11 x 14 inches, and the portrait is a ready-to-hang acrylic painting that is sealed with several coats of satin acrylic glaze.

They even communicate back and forth with you in order to get your approval prior to your LEGO self-portrait being shipped. This would make for a pretty impressive and very unique gift too. Not only will they use an emailed picture of you, but you will have the ability to personalize the painting by choosing clothing, a background, and even added LEGO props. This is a great way to reminisce about your childhood or to immortalize your love for the LEGO brand of today. Now you can have a self-portrait starring you as the LEGO.
