Sometimes you see something and you immediately say: “I want that!” but then you think “Probably it is just way too geeky for me to figure it out and I would make a mess in trying”. So you just leave it. The first time I saw the LED Throwies in action I had a similar thought but then I remembered a friend’s wise words:”The Internet is your friend, always”. So a google search here, a google search there and in less than one day I was making my own.

LED Throwies are one of these ideas that have a beautiful impact, are easy to make and will score your points on the Cool chart. To help you start you can watch this step by step video in how to make your own by Josh Lewis:

Cool and simple right? If a couple look great in a fridge take a look how amazing dozens of them look when you take it to the streets:

A search for LED Throwies on the web will direct you to where you can buy packs of 500 or more. The same goes for the earth magnets that you will need.
Warning: Highly addictive :-) If you make your own please post sends us pictures!

So what happens after everyone has thrown the throwies out of reach? Did they just leave them there, or did they plan on cleaning them up after?

The idea is fun, but not really environmentally friendly unless you clean up after you’re finished lighting up the town. Leaving a small led, magnet and battery taped together to erode/leak is probably not smart.

Hate to be the wet blanket; I’m just saying…
