The Legendary Han Solo DL-44 Heavy Blaster Recreated In LEGO

If you are a Star Wars fan (what Bit Rebels reader isn’t?), you are familiar with the DL-44 heavy blaster that Han Solo used in the original Star Wars trilogy. That famous blaster has been recognized on several ‘coolest fake weapons in movies’ lists, and it definitely added to Han Solo’s badassery. What you see below is a life-size Han Solo DL-44 blaster recreated in LEGO bricks. This is definitely the geekiest LEGO build I’ve seen all week, and the creator spared no details to make sure it looks authentic.

You probably remember seeing Han Solo dominate with this blaster in dozens of scenes, but the one with Greedo is the most memorable. I found the best description of this pistol on ComplexPopCulture which reads, “It looks like just a simple laser pistol, but Han Solo’s DL-44 heavy blaster is one of the most stylish space guns you’ll ever see. Part old west and part Buck Rogers, Han Solo slings this weapon with one arm like a spacebound Clint Eastwood clearing out scum and villainy across the galaxy.”

This beauty was conceived and built by Captain Infinity for the 2013 MocAthalon. The instructions were to replicate any science fiction object or device from a favorite movie, video game or other media in life-size scale. There are many versions of this blaster, but he focused on creating a replica of the most popular one. He used a picture of this gun for his reference.

If you want to see another unique gun made from LEGO bricks, click over to this LEGO Ray Gun, which has a retro feel to it. As awesome as it is, this Han Solo blaster doesn’t actually work (as far as I know). There are many LEGO gun mods created over the years that do work, and they shoot pellets, Nerf balls or whatever. There really are no limitations when it comes to building with LEGO!
