Graffiti Art Trend – Spider Web Tagging

Graffiti Art Trend - Spider Web Tagging

We’ve written dozens of articles on Bit Rebels about graffiti art, but I’ve never seen anything like this before.

Imagine you’ve got your can of paint in your hand. You head outside feeling creative and ready to design some colorful graffiti art. Would you ever think to color the spider webs in the cracks and crevasses of the buildings nearby?

That is exactly what Valery Overhoff and Inge Kea, students at The Dutch Art Academy of Utrecht, recently did. According to dyrmdaily, they created a little magic (no spiders or other animals were harmed). I don’t really know if I would consider this graffiti art like they are calling it; however, it is stunning and divinely creative. I love it!

I think that is when you know you’ve tapped into a true passion. Whatever that thing may be, if you could do it all day or night long, lose track of time, ‘wake up’ ten hours later, and still thirst for more, that is a passion, and I feel like I’ve found that in my writing.” Diana also spends many hours each week assisting the homeless men and women in Atlanta. So creative and I’m amazed this hasn’t been done before. Love the colours and heightened sense of depth. There must be a few animal welfare people cringing at this though!

Ummm, OK, so they spray painted spider webs. Particularly in urban areas, spider webs are useful, and painting them isn’t great for the spider. Spiders eat flies, mosquitoes and other pests, many of which carry disease. To me, it’s not a lot different–although on a different scale–than pouring oil into the ocean because it makes beautiful, colorful strips on the water.

Oh and I was wondering, are you by any chance a spider?

I agree with QuinnCreative. A spider’s web isn’t just a bit of stuff put up to get in our way. This is the tool spiders use to catch their food. Perhaps a comparison that people can understand is pouring grease or even honey down a stairway to watch it flow. The difference is that a spiderweb can’t be cleaned.

On the other hand, there are cobwebs that are merely collections of dust and oils in the air. There is likely no downside to painting them.
