geek-television-ads-in-2012

Gone are the days when hot girls and guys are the main focus of advertising campaigns. This is the generation when you can officially say that “geeks are in!” We were all introduced before to a society where outer beauty was very important. But as the years passed, big geeky brands emerged on the market offering the latest phones, software and gadgets with top of the line technology. Then hit TV shows inspired by geeks like Glee and The Big Bang Theory gave society a new outlook about this group of people. Building a positive image about someone who’s really smart and geeky is a great improvement to our social norms.

Media also plays a very important role in building the “geek brand” and influencing people’s mindsets. Now even fashion has caught up with the “smart look” becoming popular. This allows you to go out on the street with big glasses, skinny jeans and patterned shirts with no shame or judgment. Suddenly Star Wars is not only for “nerds,” but rather a great theme for a television ad campaign.

Truly the so called “geeks” and “nerds” of our society have gone a long way to prove that being smart is cool. People like Mark Zuckerberg, Steve Jobs and Bill Gates are just few of the examples of individuals who made it big even though they weren’t the hottest guys on campus. Let’s look back on some of the awesome geek inspired television ads launched this year by well-known brands. You can expect funny, informative and fresh concepts behind this collection of television ads. If you know other ads that have a geek feel to them, feel free to share them here.
