DIY Star Wars Landspeeder…For When You Want To Scoot Around In Style

If I could choose a fictional vehicle to drive IRL, a landspeeder would be my number 6 choice. It would come after the Batmobile, the DeLorean in Back to the Future, KITT from Knight Rider, Optimus Prime, and one of the light cycles from TRON. But hey, number 6 is still pretty high on the list. In A New Hope, Luke sold his landspeeder to pay Han for the trip to Alderaan. I suppose it was a good trade, but if I had a Star Wars landspeeder, I wouldn’t give it up so easily.

If you are also a fan of the Star Wars landspeeder, I have great news. Now you can make your own – sort of. A real landspeeder hovers a couple meters above the ground. This one is pedal-powered, but you can just close your eyes and pretend you’re hovering.

This is the first Instructable for Instructables user blogsdo. If this one is any indication of what his future instructables will be like, I’ll be sure to follow him. He actually built this for his son’s 6th birthday party. You can get all the directions for how to make one yourself by clicking over to Star Wars x-34 Landspeeder. He said it’s the ‘quick and dirty’ version, meaning it’s not perfect, but it will do the job.

He used some wood, a flowerpot, and a whole lot of creativity. I love how he left it an earthy color so it looks even more realistic. The cockpit of a real Star Wars landspeeder can have an enclosed windshield or be open. In this DIY version, the cockpit is wide open and airy. If you decide to make this, you are also going to need some lightsabers to go with it. Here’s the tutorial for that also… Easy DIY Lightsabers Made From Pool Noodles. Good luck!
