Design Inspiration: 6 Steampunk Nerf Gun Mods

Steampunk Nerf Gun Mods

Nerf guns are always so much fun. As kids they are fun to shoot, and as adults they are fun to mod… and shoot. They just never get old. Way back in 2010, we published an article called Possibly the Best Nerf Gun Mods – Ever. I remember at the time that post published, it was the most popular article on the site for at least a month, which was a testament for how cool Nerf guns are. Even Richard is always joking that when we move into our Bit Rebels office, we are going to have a whole closet full of Nerf guns.

As you know, the steampunk style is really popular right now. Steampunked Nerf guns are nothing new since we’ve seen them before, but recently, I’ve come across a few that I was really impressed with and wanted to share with you. If you would like to learn how to Steampunk your own Nerf gun, I can point you in the right direction. There are three steampunk artists who I really like that have posted tutorials on Instructables. I will link them here for you. Their designs are featured below, and they have mad steampunking skillz. They are HighWing, Steampunk Sid and Cation Designs.

The assault rifle you see below is an older design, but definitely worth including here. It was sold on eBay in 2008, but I don’t know what it finally sold for. I know it was over $225. My favorite one of these is the pretty turquoise blue Nerf Maverick mod created by aimeekitty. She posted a tutorial on deviantART. All of these are truly stunning, and I hope they inspire your next steampunk design!
