Each summer there is a new trend that people bring upon themselves and seemingly get all fanatical about. It can be anything from a new beach gadget to something they wear or play with. It doesn’t really matter what it is, each year there is always something that becomes the latest and greatest trend. I must say that I don’t think I have ever fallen for any of these things. I don’t know, maybe I am just not trendy or cool enough to go after them. When the skateboard became really popular though, I was one of the first ones to get one. I managed to learn some tricks, but I quickly understood that in order to progress, a few horrifying broken legs and arms were necessary, and that’s when I decided not to continue pursuing that specific “profession.”
There is one trend that I don’t think I will pursue anytime soon, and that is the Bikini Jeans that are becoming increasingly (depending on how you look at it) popular since 2009. It is exactly what you think it is… or maybe anyway. It’s basically a pair of really low cut jeans with jeans bikini bottoms (or tangas) attached to them. Yeah, it sounds a little dodgy, doesn’t it? Well, there are people out there who really love this kind of oddness.
The word is that they are the perfect beachwear if you want to sport the denim but not pull on the full pair of jeans you bought for winter. I don’t know, I don’t think I will sport these anytime soon. I am quite happy spending my days on the beach in my ordinary swim shorts and occasionally a t-shirt. Maybe this is something for the more voyeuristic people who enjoy the attention these “pants” will certainly generate. Maybe they will go well with yesterday’s Swimwear Flip-Flops. That would be an epic combination for sure!
