A Visual Typographic Feast

The students and faculty at Brigham Young University put together this very creative video for The Typophile Film Festival 5 which is a film festival featuring a selection of typographic films from all over the world.

This particular video is about the five senses, and how they contribute to and enhance our creativity. The most amazing thing to me is that everything in the stop-motion film is real, no CG effects!

According to http://www.cpluv.com/www/feeditem/8044, “it was shot with a RED One, a Canon EOS 5D Mark II, a Canon EOS 40D, and a Nikon D80. Stop motion created with Dragon Stop Motion.” It is obvious that these students put a lot of TLC into this project. It is typographic creativity at it’s finest! I’ve been having my own love affair with words for a long time, so it’s fun for me to see them come alive like this.

“Everyone eats and drinks, but few appreciate taste.”

The Creative Director & Faculty Mentor at BYU was Brent Barson.

I think that is when you know you’ve tapped into a true passion. Whatever that thing may be, if you could do it all day or night long, lose track of time, ‘wake up’ ten hours later, and still thirst for more, that is a passion, and I feel like I’ve found that in my writing.” Diana also spends many hours each week assisting the homeless men and women in Atlanta. Hi Diana,
Nice catch with the film. Question: Am I to understand that the stop motion effect was created by that Dragon software and that there wasn’t any actual stop motion work done in the video? I’m thinking of Ray Harryhausen and his work with stop motion.
Please don’t misunderstand me, it’s a wonderful video. I am just confused by the use of the Dragon software.

Oh, more thing, and not to be the typo police, but there is one: “it’s finest!”
