World’s Most Expensive Handbag (It’s Not Even That Cute)

About a month ago, I wrote an article about some Christian Louboutin heels that cater to geek girls. They were gorgeous shoes of course, but the thing that stuck with me was that the matching handbag was only $100 less than the shoes and priced at $1,595. Even though the shoes were fabulous, the handbag wasn’t all that. I wondered why anyone would pay that much for that handbag, and then I wondered what the most expensive handbag in the world looks like.

I finally had time to research this, and the most expensive handbag in the world is not as cute as I would have thought. According to BornRich, “The House of Mouawad in Dubai rolled out the most expensive purse ever made that costs a cool $3.8 million. The bag is adorned with 4,356 colorless diamonds, 105 yellow diamonds and 56 pink ones and hence it is covered with 4,500 diamonds. The total weight of the diamonds is 381 karats, and it set a record at Guinness World Records for being the world’s most expensive handbag.”

As you see, the handbag itself is heart-shaped. It took 10 people four months to create it (approximately 8,800 hours). My question is, if you had an extra $3.8 million dollars, would you by this? I wouldn’t. I’m sure some people would like it, but it’s not my style. Regardless, it’s called the 1001 Nights Diamond Purse, and it’s one-of-a-kind. If you are uber-rich, this might be just what you want to make the ultimate fashion statement. I just think if a purse is going to cost that much, it should be a much more creative than just a small heart-shape covered in diamonds. But then again, that’s just me. If I’m going to pay $3.8 million dollars for a purse, I’d want there to be a hidden TARDIS on the inside or something. I mean, c’mon! Either way, this is the most expensive handbag in the whole world. Enjoy!
