This is something to really get excited about! I’ve heard about #Artwalk for a while now, but never really understood what it was until today.

You’ve seen it in the tweets on Twitter, you’ve seen all the buzz about it, but what exactly is #Artwalk and how can you participate in the fun?

According to http://www.kimsherrell.com, #Artwalk is “a global community of art makers and art lovers who get together once a month on Twitter for a worldwide virtual art crawl.” What a brilliant idea!

This is such a wonderfully simple concept. Here is the inside scoop on #Artwalk -

The mission of #Artwalk is merely to answer the question, “Where is the best art NOW?”

WHAT – #Artwalk is both a monthly virtual art tour and a community of artists and arts patrons who tweet! The #Artwalk Gallery Community now has 183 members working in a wide range of mediums and styles. #Artwalk Gallery provides a place for artists to upload their best work to a virtual gallery space. As of today, 1295 images have been uploaded to the gallery. http://artwalk.tv

WHO – This event is open to any and all art lovers all over the world! If you are passionate about making, collecting and enjoying art, join us!

WHEN – The last Tuesday of each month at 7pm EST / 23:00 UTC

WHERE – Twitter!

HOW – You can participate in #Artwalk two different ways or do both! You can tweet art links with the hastag #Artwalk and/or you can just view the exhibit by going to Twitter search or TweetDeck and following the #Artwalk feed. What does that mean? You will be able to view all the tweets regarding the #Artwalk in one feed. Learn more about hashtags here: http://mashable.com/2009/05/17/twitter-hashtags/
