There has been quite a bit of talk going around among designers what font Twitter uses in there logo. Some have their own opinion that it’s custom made, some say it’s a rather common font that has been slightly modified. Some of you might know it already and some might now. However, we will now reveal to you what the font really is.

The font used in the Twitter logo is actually “PICO Alphabet “. A rather fun and playful font that always reminds me of some Japaneese cartoon movie title or something. Maybe it’s because it is a cartoon gracing the full alphabet showcase.

It’s created by “Maniackers Design” and its downloadable right HERE

Maybe now some designers don’t have to go through the time consuming work to custom make the logo by deforming and modify another similar font.

What about the letter E? It doesn’t match that of the Twitter logo. Did the Twitter designers draw the letter E themselves?

Can be! Just like the Coca-Cola logo. If you not noted, the first “C” is different from the second. The first one is draw.

Could very well be that they created their own “e” yes. :)

I like the little cartoon kind of a kitsch mix of colonel sanders and mario.

@BolClock If you look carefully at the ‘e’ in the Twitter logo, the weight/stroke isn’t consistent with the other characters, so I reckon they did rec-create it.

@angie they totally need to integrate that mario-like dude into the twitter branding. Like, make it the twitter bird’s owner or something!

Yeah, there has been many fonts suggested. However, the word is that it IS this one however some letters have been modified to fit their need.

Looks similar. @Richard Darell: You say that the ‘word’ is that this is the font Twitter used, but who started the ‘word’? If it’s not from Twitter can they really be trusted? :)

The source of this is several websites which I don’t have time to list here. But I believe it is the closest any font has come to be proven to be the real one. But do a search on Google.com and you will get more sources than you think. lol :)

Nice post. Always love your info. May I point out a typo? The second “there” should “their” in the first sentence.

I thought it was either the chicken font or closest I have seen is Tondo all though I think both might actually be ‘after’ Twitter was set up.

“e” and Capital “T” don’t make the cut, sorry. Even the small “t” is slightly off the cross is a bit to high. Very similar font though.

I justed asked a friend who is a Systems engineer at Twitter. It’s not a font. It was drawn, there are EPS and AIs available on their website. :-D

But the maker of the font believes Twitter used his font until 2009:

“Without any doubt, this logo was designed using ‘Pico-Black’. Not merely ‘Similar’. This font was used directly for ‘t,w,i,r’. (‘t’ is the design of old version) ‘e’ is other fonts. I uploaded an image for comparison: http://www.flickr.com/photos/mksd/3654981510/

I received my first personal loans when I was 32 and it aided my business a lot. However, I need the collateral loan again.
