Everything that lasts in this world goes through an evolution, a change that will make it more up-to-date and enduring. It’s a constant change, and we humans are the masters of it. With all the research going on to make our lives longer and our health better, it in itself is an evolution. The only thing that we do is speed up the evolution that would eventually have implemented itself into our genes anyway. That is the word if you talk to some of the more pioneering scientists and researchers out there. However, there are far more things than the human body that go through the cycle of evolution.

Take our cereal boxes for example. If they would have stayed the same since the first time they were introduced back in the day, we would have quickly fallen out of love with them and picked up another brand, right? So, the companies behind these breakfast noms are constantly trying to stay up-to-date with the image processing features it seems. There’s no doubt they go through some heavy mechanical changes as well since their press has to be constantly upgraded, or at least their box manufacturing machines does.

The people over at Retronaut pulled together the most popular cereal brands and staged an evolution comparison of the boxes since they were initially introduced to the public’s breakfast table up until today. One theme in particular catches my eye, and that is that they all seem to use the popular 3D approach lately. And that in the beginning, they all had some kind of cartoon representing their cereal. It’s no doubt to draw in the children to make their parents buy the cereal. It was genius marketing back then, right? The funny thing is that it still works today.
