When you first look at these pictures, especially if you click on them to see the enlarged versions, they will shock your eyeballs and your mind with exploding colors that will permeate your brain. It’s artists like this who have a fresh style and mad skills that humble me and remind me that I don’t really know anything about art because I can’t even begin to imagine how she made these.
Nicky Barkla, also known as deviantART artist *offtoseethewizard, is a 20 year old artist from Melbourne, Australia. She painted each one of these in what is becoming her recognizable and signature style of using vibrant colors to express the emotions in the faces of her portraits.
Below you will see Maul, Albert, Doc, Hulk, Spidey and even Edward (my favorite) all recreated in a rainbow of violently exploding colors. I don’t say this very often, but I don’t think I’ve ever written about any art like this before. This Psychedelic Egg Photography was in the same ballpark, but still miles away. I wonder where she gets her inspiration and what process she goes through to choose which people to paint. Nicky, you’ve done such an outstanding job with these!
