Pixel 8-Bit Fashions: For Old School Geek Divas

Do you miss the 8-bit days of the ’80s? Do you wish you had a way to take memories of Super Mario with you everywhere you go? Designer Kunihiko Morinage of the design company Anrealage found a way to make it happen for all us old school geek girls.

Earlier this month at Tokyo’s Japan Fashion Week, Kunihiko unveiled his pixelated 8-bit fashions which include coats, dresses, suits, glasses, shoes and even tights. Just wearing one of these pieces would be interesting, but pairing many of them together as you see below is simply geektastic. From a distance, these fashions just look like colorful blocky patterns. Up close though, you can really see each pixel.

Apparently this style of fashion is called techno-eccentric. These are all part of Kunihiko’s fall/winter 2011/2012 line. While the models walked the catwalk at the fashion show, the attendees were treated to a pianist playing early video game music. Now that’s a fashion show I would have liked to attend! What’s your favorite design out of all of these? Mine are the shoes of course. Love them!
