Lego Paintings: The Lego World Becomes Colorful 2D Artwork

It’s time for something different, something we haven’t seen before. It has everything to do with what we love most here at Bit Rebels. I am of course talking about Lego. It’s the building block for every kid’s developing imagination. There is little that Lego can’t achieve. As a matter of fact I can’t think of anything right now that it can’t do. The versatility of this amazing block is just beyond limitless. When it comes to Lego, we have always found astounding and mind-blowing builds that defy both time and scale. So what could we possibly share that we haven’t seen before? That is what I think some of you are asking yourselves right now.

Well, having a look at the headline of this article should pretty much give it away, right? Let’s pretend for a second that you haven’t read the title, and instead you just stumbled upon this article by chance, then what? This has everything to do with Lego, that is correct. However, it’s not the 3D block that we are all used to seeing or building with. They are actually paintings created in 2D space of small little scenarios that could happen in the Lego World.

These wonderful and colorful paintings are created by talented artist Aurélie Montfrond, and they are certainly worth a mention. To me, they first came across as kind of coloring book-ish, but I reevaluated my first impression when I saw the intricate drawings of the houses in the background. It’s certainly a work of art worthy of every geeks attention. The series of paintings is called Little Cities & Legos, and it illustrates what is most likely going through a kid’s mind when he or she is playing with Lego. The mind is a wonderful creation. It has the capability of filling in the blanks to create a more populated and lush world when the visual world just doesn’t cut it.
